Introduction
This page is a sketchbook for all the participants to read about the itinerary. So far the Itinerary seems VERY interesting since we would be visiting 3 countries in the South of Africa. From my previous trips in Africa it does seem VERY exciting... The itinerary will cover Cage Diving, Game Drives (Driving though Wildlife Parks), Quad Biking, and many more activities!
What to Expect
This is by no means a relaxing trip with 23 days on the beach sunbathing. We will be traveling by car sometimes on rough terrains for several hours on some days, and maybe arriving at sundown to setup camp. Hotels/rooms/hostels have not been included in the fare, but from what I have been told, for an extra 10/20 US Dollars (per room) a night it should be possible to stay in a Hotel if the group prefers so. Nonetheless in this itinerary there aren't many hotels to go to... Facilites are good in any case in camp sites. We will be buying provisions for the trip every few days, and mostly cooking on the camp site for breakfast and dinner. Lunches are mostly improvised with a sandwich maybe.
A desirable gadget to have:
A Satellite Phone will be available to place calls. This phone will work in any corner of the world for as long as it has a view of the sky, be it the Polar ice caps, or the middle of a desert. We will have it available for emergency calls (if needed) and for reporting our location in case we lag behind schedule, or just to call home to check-in with friends/family.
What to pack
This is mostly subjective, but please bear in mind that we cannot carry large suitcases. It's better to have two smaller soft bags than one larger one for packing purposes.
The following Camping equipment WILL be provided.
- Tent
- Table, Chairs
- Stove with gas
- pans and pots
- dishes and cuttlery
You will need your own sleeping bag and pillow, since these are regarded as personal items.
Have a look at the Equipment List provided for an indication of what to bring!
